Did Murphy get Musk?

Any ideas why the Tesla Cybertruck “armor glass” windows shattered? Elon Musk didn’t seem sure, so we have provided three possible reasons:

  1. Someone at Tesla fitted inferior, less expensive glass because it was just a show vehicle. They didn’t know it would be used in a violent on-stage demo for the press.

A logical explanation perhaps. But wouldn’t Mr Musk have known - he seems quite a “hands on” manager?

  2. The steel balls were thrown too hard. Or the drop tests that worked on stage may have used lighter balls.
Possible, but unlikely. Unbreakable glass should be unbreakable.

  3. Murphy’s Law. “If things can go wrong, they will go wrong”. We have all experienced the immortality of this law. Even if there’s only a 1% chance, don’t risk it. Especially if the whole world is watching!

We go for this reason. What do you think?

All this just goes to show that developing and producing automotive glasses is not as easy as it could seem to be. Perhaps the 100-year glass manufacturing experience of AGC could be helpful to Mr Musk... J
