Aston Martin brings back Bond’s DB5

Aston Martin has announced that it will produce 25 examples of 007’s iconic DB5 – complete with tricks and gadgets created for Goldfinger on the big screen. The latest model in Aston Martin’s highly successful Continuation car programme will also be its most expensive, with a price tag of around $3.5 million.

Production, which takes about 4,500 hours per car, combines old-world craftsmanship in the British tradition with modern engineering and advanced technology. But you can’t choose the colour and finish of this 290-horsepower classic: all DB5 Goldfinger Continuation cars come with the original silver aluminium bodywork.

For extra fun, each of the 25 cars will be equipped with the original Bond gadgets, including circular radar screen, smoke-screen delivery system, bullet resistant shield, revolving number plates, and simulated twin front machine guns (sound and light only). New additions include an under-seat weapons tray and telephone in the driver’s door. Sadly, you may never see this classic on the road – In most parts of the world, it’s definitely not street legal.
